The project Tribute to the Child Holocaust Victims follows in suit of the project Neighbours Who Disappeared. This phase focuses on Jewish students of the grammar school in Mělník . Our project deal with students and children in the same school children go to today. We would like to present the results of our project to our own school and to the general public.
At the beginning of WW II., many students were restricted and persecuted because of their race. Forty-three students left our school in the school year 1939/1940. Seven of them were persecuted and had to leave the school involuntarily. Project participants highlight their fate and their sudden departure.
In the school year 2005/2006 students of a historical seminar searched in the regional documents and literature concerning Jews, founded a few witnesses and late schoolmates. The students presented the results of our project by an exhibition at our grammar school in Mělník on May 29, 2006.
